Our Sunday drive started before daylight thanks to Daylight Saving Time kicking in overnight. We pulled out around 7:30 a.m. with an estimated arrival of 1:30 p.m.—so off we went. Traffic was light, the rain came and went, and we rolled into Legacy RV Resort at about 4 p.m. Perfect timing.
The staff welcomed us back and placed us on a great site near the office and main entrance. All the sites here are roomy and easy to access, but this spot will be especially fun for watching everyone come and go. The rain in the area slowed us down a bit during the trip, but all in all it was a good travel day.

At 4 p.m. the ETSU Bucs tipped off against Western Carolina in the semifinals of the SoCon basketball tournament. After getting set up and connected, we caught the second half of what turned into a nail-biter. We hadn’t beaten Western Carolina this year and dreaded meeting them again in the tournament. The Bucs trailed most of the game but pulled off a two-point victory in the final moments.
Dinner was from Fox’s Pizza—a couple of salads and breadsticks. We didn’t realize it was a chain until we noticed another location in Kingsport, Tennessee. Our attempt to avoid chain restaurants will probably fail every time we’re in Darien. We don’t usually go for pizza, but their other menu options are very good. A taco salad, a regular salad, and breadsticks made for a great ending to our first night back.

Monday, 9 March, 2026: Morning came early again—it was still dark outside when we started the day. The moon setting over the main office made for a beautiful start.

With warmer weather on the horizon, it was time for the seasonal clothing swap. Our off-season clothes are stored in the cab-over bunk—ten totes carefully balanced by weight. We spent the morning switching everything out. It’s a lot of work, but the feeling afterward is worth it. We saw snow and plenty of cold this winter, but now we’re ready for spring, summer, and fall.
Once the swap was finished, we headed into town for supplies. Saying it that way makes it sound like we’re roughing it. 🙂 We made it back just in time to catch what would be the final ETSU Bucs basketball game of the season. Furman pulled out the win in the SoCon Championship. It was a great season, and we enjoyed following the team through many exciting moments. #GoBucs!!

Tuesday, 10 March, 2026: We started the day by cleaning out and reorganizing our outside storage compartments. Several things were combined, some tossed, and others set aside for long-term storage. I’m sure we won’t be able to find anything for the next few days—but you’d be surprised how often those bins come in handy.
Being at a site right by the main entrance has its perks. It’s fun watching people come and go—stopping by the office, walking around the park loop, or taking their pets out for a stroll.
Today we saw something new: a gentleman riding his eBike while his little dog ran full speed beside him. I joked that it was cheating. He laughed and said it was great exercise for the dog—but not so much for him. Fair enough.
Wednesday, 11 March, 2026: The weather the last couple of days has been very warm. This day was no exception, and we found a way to combat the heat. We got a pretty good sunburn even being out for only about an hour and a half. Good days in early March before spring has sprung.

The sun Monday and Tuesday was nice and warm. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying it, for sure. A big reason to be outside was because it felt better than being in our camper. We have been having an issue with out heat pump for the last few months. In October, one of the fans shattered on the unit, and we had to have it replaced. A service technician came to our site on Thursday and found that the replacement fan was too small causing the unit to shut down for overheating. Hopefully, we will be back up and running soon. For now, the weather has cooled back off for about a week. We will see.
