Sunday, March 29, 2026; We spent most of the day around the campground preparing to watch Tennessee in the Elite 8 of basketball. We got lunch out at Sweet Tee’s Log Cabin Restaurant. Another excellent meal. However, the basketball game was not as good as it could have been. Michigan came to play. The end of the season for Vols Basketball about the same time the sun was going down in Darien. Just like the sun, and Venus off in the distance, a new season will come.

Monday and Tuesday, March 30-31, 2026: Both days were work days, and we were very busy. By the time Tuesday night Bingo was on deck, we were ready. This night would be the last night for almost all the group of players. By our count, we may only have three players next week. The conversation revolved around travel destinations and plans for returning to Legacy RV Resort in Winter. What a great group we have gotten to know. The game was good, and everyone that was leaving left with a little gas money. We look forward to when we will all be back together. The night also was not a total loss for us, as we ended up with a dime bag.

Wednesday, April 1, 2026: As April rolled in, we started to see the annual shift in the camping world. Some parks reopen for the season—like GMP does each year—while down south, the snowbirds begin their migration north.
Back when we were full-timing at GMP, this change was something we always looked forward to. New campers rolling in meant fresh stories, more activity around the campground, and the return of events for both kids and adults. You could feel the place come back to life—the pool getting prepped for May, neighbors changing, and that buzz of energy after a long winter.
Now that we’re out on the road, we’re RVing a little differently. We follow the seasons—staying in places that are open year-round, with good weather, plenty to do, and a steady flow of fellow travelers coming and going.
Different pace… same love for the journey.
We noticed two couples heading out early that morning and stepped out to wish them well. We watched all morning as several left, almost right behind each other. Some going north, even into winter; some going westerly. Each working their way back to a summer landing spot. Some will be home, some with family, and some will continue to roam.

We headed to St Simons Island for lunch. We found Porch St Simons Island. We did not know that it had been featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The location was very cool and offered outdoor, screened, or indoor seating. The atmosphere was lively with a varied crowd for lunch. Most of the meal was very good. The chicken salad sandwich was different. We are not sure if they make it this way or not, but there was one huge piece of chicken that was not shredded and therefore not seasoned by the blend of celery, pecans, grapes, and seasonings. Having eaten enough for now, we had satisfied our light lunch plans.

After lunch, we visited a couple of shopping destinations on the island. Some fairly upscale, some fun and games, some with a selection of items that covered almost anyone’s wants. We made a few purchases and headed back to camp to prepare for dinner. It’s date night!! 31 years ago, on the 29th of March actually, we went on our first date.
Friends and staff at the campground are always discussing food, and someone had mentioned a new place for us to try.
