We knew heading back the weather was going to be extremely cold this week, but the arrival was very pleasant. Of course, no changes at Green Mountain Park. The roads are still blocked off from the flood several months ago, so we go with what we have said for the last few years. “It is what it is.” Oh well, our site was FULL of pine needles. Beth went on up to the site and blew off the pad so we could set back up.

The afternoon brought friends by the site to check in with us. The weather was great. Olivia, Nate, and Gracie came up and brought “funeral chicken” for lunch. They ended up staying into the evening allowing Gracie to spend some time with her campground friends too.

Then came the wind, and temperatures plummeted. Good night to cozy up and watch some TV before an early to bed decision. Travel days kill us. The morning brought even move wind and cool temps in the twenties.

The week was busy with Olivia, Nate, and Gracie visiting most days. Olivia spent Wednesday and Thursday with us wrapping Christmas gifts, hanging out, and working both days. Each night brought dinner with them either out or some home cooked goodness.

Friday night Olivia and Nate hosted a surprise birthday party for our friend Deborah from GMP. The usual Friday night dinner gang all joined us to enjoy some taco soup and good fellowship.

Saturday, we began the process of deconstructing our site at Green Mountain. We had decided to sell the site and not have a home base at Green Mountain Park in Lenoir, NC, for a while.

One final purge of random items we cannot carry with us called for an impromptu yard sale. The rest will end up in storage.
