After we left Green Mountain Park in 2018, we truly believed our camping days were behind us. We had sold off everything camping-related, ready to embrace the stability of homeownership. And for a while, we were content. Or so we thought.
But in the spring of 2021, something stirred—a familiar pull toward the campground life. Not full-blown camping like before, but something simpler. We found ourselves craving the energy of a campground: the laughter, the fresh air, the community. We wanted a way to enjoy those moments again—without fully diving back into the lifestyle we had once left behind.
Our friend Clyde had just the solution.
We bought a pop-up camper and brought it home. Beth, Olivia, and I rolled up our sleeves and got to work. The camper had good bones, and the canvas was practically new. We gave it a facelift—replacing the flooring, painting the cabinets, and getting it road-ready.
Back in 2018, we had built a small campsite in our backyard, so we set the camper up there to test it out. Even Boo was excited.

But as it turned out, there was one thing we couldn’t quite overlook: the lack of a restroom. As much as we tried to make it work, that one missing piece was hard to ignore.
In the end, the camper never made it beyond our backyard. It stayed parked until we sold it later that year.
